The Science Behind the Score
Drouniac isn't another blog. It's a data engine designed to cut through marketing hype and deliver objective, performance-based drone analysis.
Data-Driven Core
We don't just read spec sheets. Our engine ingests thousands of data points—from sensor size and bitrate to flight time and wind resistance—creating a standardized 'canonical' profile for every drone.
Impartial Scoring
Subjectivity is minimized. Our algorithms calculate scores based on raw performance metrics relative to the current market standards. A 9/10 camera score means it truly competes with the best.
Mission Focused
A drone isn't 'good' or 'bad' in a vacuum. We classify drones by their 'Mission'—Travel, Cinema, FPV, etc.—to ensure we're recommending the right tool for your specific needs.
Always Up-to-Date
The drone market moves fast. Our system is built to re-evaluate rankings dynamically as new models are released, ensuring our 'Best of' lists never get stale.
The Analysis Pipeline
Ingestion & Normalization
We aggregate technical specifications from manufacturers, regulatory filings, and independent testing data. All units are normalized (e.g., converting all wind resistance to m/s) to allow for apples-to-apples comparison.
Dimensional Scoring
Our engine evaluates each drone across four key dimensions: Flight Performance, Camera Quality, Transmission Range, and Safety Features. These aren't arbitrary; they are weighted sums of specific technical capabilities.
Contextual Ranking
Finally, we interpret the raw scores through the lens of specific user profiles. A drone might be technically superior but ranked lower for "Beginners" if it lacks safety features or price accessibility.
